Looking for a trip that is a bit unusual? How about staying at a haunted hotel? They aren't very expensive and will give you some tales to tell! Do some checking in your own hometown first. You may find some haunted inns close by.
The Shelburne Inn in Seaview, Washington, has several rooms (#4, #5, and #6) that are said to be haunted. Room #4 has the weird reputation of losing a lot of keys mysteriously. It was built in 1896 and is the state's oldest continuously operating inn. Located in a lovely seaside town, with a great restaurant, The Shelburne Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places. It has been named one of the top 25 inns worldwide by Conde Nast Traveler.
While you're in the area, drive a mile south to the town of Ilwaco and visit the local library. Many folks believe there are friendly ghosts in that building.
Across the Columbia River, in Astoria, Oregon, you can also visit an old Victoria era home that is now a museum, Flavel House. Visitors report hearing unconnected phones ringing, drapes opening or closing on their own, and lights going on and off. The Liberty Theater, also in Astoria, is another haunted destination. Apparently a woman huants the upstairs women's bathroom there.
