Airline Ticket Service Fees

Effective Monday, September 6, 2004, American Airlines and American EagleŽ implemented service fees for tickets purchased by telephone or at airports.

The service fees are:

  • $5.00 for tickets purchased via telephone at U.S. reservations centers

  • $10.00 for tickets purchased at U.S. airport locations.

  • The fees will be waived for frequent-flier program members and for military bereavement fares.

  • The fees are non-refundable and apply per ticket.

  • The fees also apply to tickets that you redeem as AAdvantageŽ program awards.

These fees are becoming common practice in the airline industry.

  • Northwest Airlines charges the same fees. They recently rescinded a $7.50 service fee on round-trip tickets bought through travel agent systems.

If you don't know how to book your own reservations on the internet, it's time to learn how!
