Airline Ticket Service Fees
Effective Monday, September 6, 2004, American Airlines and American EagleŽ implemented service fees for tickets purchased by telephone or at airports.
The service fees are:
$5.00 for tickets purchased via telephone at U.S. reservations centers
$10.00 for tickets purchased at U.S. airport locations.
The fees will be waived for frequent-flier program members and for military bereavement fares.
The fees are non-refundable and apply per ticket.
The fees also apply to tickets that you redeem as AAdvantageŽ program awards.
These fees are becoming common practice in the airline industry.
Northwest Airlines charges the same fees. They recently rescinded a $7.50 service fee on round-trip tickets bought through travel agent systems.
If you don't know how to book your own reservations on the internet, it's time to learn how!
