Journey to Freedom
In her wisdom, the Church encourages us to pause and recall the loving kindness of God.

"Laetare Sunday reminds us of the joy of our Resurrection."

4th Week of Lent

Explain the tradition of Laetare Sunday when rose colored vestments were worn and a rose was blessed on this Sunday to remind us of the joy of our Resurrection.

Put a fresh rose on the table this week.

A Sampling of Sacrifices

This would be a good time to visit a shut-in.

Talk about the joys and gifts of life that we have received since last Easter. Pray together in thanksgiving.

Discuss your memories of the sacrament of Penance with family and friends. Explain what the sacrament of Penance meant to you as a child and your feelings about it now. Attend the parish penance services that are available.

Go for a walk together as a family or couple through your neighborhood. Talk about ways your family can be good neighbors.

Spend time looking at your photo albums, slides, movies or videos. Talk about how everyone has grown. End with a little prayer that your family will help one another to grow closer each other and to God.

Older children and adults can pick one day this week not to eat until sundown. Use the hungry feeling to remind you of how much need there is for forgiveness in our world.
