Fitness is the Key for Seniors
With so much information concerning diets and exercise, it is difficult to know what to believe.
Some Facts:
Over the past ten years, obesity in America has increased by more than 50%.
64.5% of American adults have a BMI between 25 and 29.9 (overweight) or have a BMI of 30 or higher (obese).
Experts have stated that there is a significantly increased risk of premature death in folks who are even mildly overweight.
Harvard Medical School researchers recommend that adults maintain a BMI (body mass index) between 18.5 and 21.9. Calculate your own BMI:

Although we are told over and over again that if we eat less and exercise more, we will become thin. But this doesn't work very often.
So what to do...
Well, I'm going exercise for fitness purposes and not to necessarily lose weight. I prefer the Mediterranean Food Pyramid since I am a vegetarian. I will avoid foods with a huge list of unknown ingredients, watch the size of the portions of my meals, drink water throughout the day, eat a wide variety of natural food items including plenty of fruit and vegetables, enjoy my chocolate, and have a glass of wine now and then!
