Mission
Statement
Drawing
from the Catholic belief in the sacrament of matrimony, we affirm that our
ministry is to offer a solid foundation for the vocation of married life.
We commit to living this sacrament through strengthening our marriages. By
sharing our sacrament we witness to the love of God revealed in Christ's
love for his church. Through our discerned commitment to Engaged Encounter,
we form a community that nourishes us for this purpose.
Information
The
Anchorage Catholic Engaged Encounter Community provides Engaged Encounter
Weekends in the regions of the State of Alaska for the Archdiocese of
Alaska.
The
Anchorage Catholic EE Community is an all-volunteer non-profit. Our
ministry depends on volunteers to present weekends, host weekends, manage
the organization, pray, and support the mission of the organization.
There are many different opportunities for you to help out
with Engaged Encounter:
- Prayer - Praying for our
Engaged Couples during their weekend.
- Presenting Team -
Presenting examples from their marriage during a weekend.
- Host Team - Greeting the
couples Friday nights and help them get situated for their weekend.
- Administration - There
are several tasks that are ongoing which include:
- Registration - Handles new registrations
and cancellations.
- Supplies - Makes sure supplies are
available for our community.
- Finance - Keeps track of the finances, and
pays all the bills.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact us. We
would love to share this wonderful ministry with you.
Please
contact us if you are interested in joining our community by e-mail or by
calling (907) 346-2279.
The
Community is open to all married or engaged couples who wish to enrich
their relationship in a setting that respects all faiths. We are a family
oriented community and accommodations are made for small children at all
our community events.
The
Weekend itself is a series of presentations given by two married couples,
usually with a priest or religious person acting as an integral part of the
Team. The Weekend Team takes the engaged couples on a personal journey into
what the Sacrament of Matrimony means to them personally and the impact
that a great marriage can have upon the world around us. Though the Weekend
is given in a group setting, the engaged couples are asked to focus on each
other and the presentations are followed by a period of time where the
engaged couples write on specific topics separately and then come together
as a couple to share their reflections in a setting which promotes trust,
honesty and openness in their Weekend journey.
