Mission Statement

Drawing from the Catholic belief in the sacrament of matrimony, we affirm that our ministry is to offer a solid foundation for the vocation of married life. We commit to living this sacrament through strengthening our marriages. By sharing our sacrament we witness to the love of God revealed in Christ's love for his church. Through our discerned commitment to Engaged Encounter, we form a community that nourishes us for this purpose.

Information

The Tacoma Catholic Engaged Encounter Community provides Engaged Encounter Weekends in the Southwestern and Olympic Peninsula regions of Washington State for the Archdiocese of Seattle.

The Tacoma EE Community has monthly gatherings for mutual sharing and to provide support services for the on-going mission of presenting Engaged Encounter Weekends.. Please contact the Coordinating Couple if you are interested in joining our community. The Community is open to all married or engaged couples who wish to enrich their relationship in a setting that respects all faiths. We are a family oriented community and accommodations are made for small children at all our community events.

The Weekend itself is a series of presentations given by two married couples, usually with a priest or religious person acting as an integral part of the Team. The Weekend Team takes the engaged couples on a personal journey into what the Sacrament of Matrimony means to them personally and the impact that a great marriage can have upon the world around us. Though the Weekend is given in a group setting, the engaged couples are asked to focus on each other and the presentations are followed by a period of time where the engaged couples write on specific topics separately and then come together as a couple to share their reflections in a setting which promotes trust, honesty and openness in their Weekend journey.
